Therapist in River West

This is the neighborhood we are actually in. Our studio is at 700 North Green, a short walk from the Grand and Chicago Blue Line stops, and the front door is on Green Street. You do not need a diagnosis to start, or a reason that sounds serious enough.

What brings people in

Depression, anxiety and burnout have a way of arriving right after you have made it

You did the thing. The degree, the move, the job that people back home say the name of with a certain tone. From the outside it looks finished. From the inside it can feel like you are holding two lives at once: the one you built here, and the one that raised you, with its own rules about what you owe and who you are allowed to become.

That is a lot to carry through a workday, and it tends to come out sideways. Trouble sleeping. Snapping at someone you love. A flatness on Sunday night that you have stopped mentioning because, honestly, what would you even be complaining about.

A lot of people walk in here saying some version of I should be fine. You do not have to be not-fine enough to come. You just have to be tired of managing it alone. If it is easier to say in Spanish, you can say it in Spanish.

Not sure

If you want a starting point that is not a phone call

The depression check-in and the anxiety check-in take about two minutes each and use the same screening tools clinicians use. You get a score and a few things worth reading next. No email needed.

How we can help

What we do

Depression and anxiety

Individual therapy for adults, in the studio or online, in English or Spanish.

Burnout and the job that became your whole personality

For when being good at it stopped being the point and started being the trap.

Trauma

For when old injuries start re-enacting themselves in the present and getting in the way of your relationships.

Living between two worlds

First-generation adults, immigrants, and anyone whose family has strong opinions about the life they chose. Honoring where you come from without being run by it.

Starting over

A new city, a new job, a new version of yourself. Including the part where it is lonelier than you expected.

Grief and loss

A death, but also a distance, a homeland, or a relationship with a parent that will never be what you needed.

Where we are

We are in River West, on Green Street

700 North Green, Suite 106, at the corner of Green and Huron. A short walk from the Grand Blue Line stop, a few minutes more from Chicago Avenue, and close enough to the Kennedy that people come in from the suburbs on the way home. There is street parking on Green Street, and paid street parking on Chicago Avenue and Halsted if Green is full.

Marra is a therapist-owned mental health studio, and deliberately small. Every clinician here is licensed and in real supervision, which is how, when you reach out, we can tell you which of us is right for what instead of pointing you at a directory.

If you would rather read about the studio from the West Loop, River North or Wicker Park side, those pages are here too. It is the same door.

FAQs

Before you book

Do you have therapists who work in Spanish?

Yes. Several of our clinicians work in English and Spanish, and so does our founder. Tell our client coordinator when you reach out and we will match you with one of them. You can do the whole thing in Spanish, or switch when a feeling only has a name in one language.

Does Marra take my insurance?

We are in network with BCBS PPO, Cigna and Evernorth, Aetna, and United. Coverage varies by clinician and plan, and our client coordinator will check yours before your first session.

How long is a session?

Fifty-five minutes.

Can I do this virtually?

Yes, anywhere in Illinois, from wherever you are.

Where are you?

700 North Green Street, Suite 106, Chicago, IL 60642, in River West. A short walk from the Grand Blue Line stop.
