Depression Therapy in Chicago

Depression can wear you down in ways that are hard to explain. You may have pushed through difficult seasons by relying on sheer willpower, telling yourself you could handle it. Over time, though, the strain builds, and what once felt manageable can start to feel overwhelming. You might notice signs like:

 • Constant fatigue, even after sleeping
 • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
 • Irritability or numbness
 • Difficulty concentrating at work
 • Pulling away from people
 • A quiet voice telling you you’re “behind” or “not enough”
 • Feeling constantly guilty
 • Having a hard time making decisions

With Marra, our therapists can help you become a steadier version of yourself that’s no longer driven by depression.

How Marra is More Than Just Therapy

We can help you rebuild yourself by seeing therapy less like repair work and more like having a strategic partner who helps you understand exactly what keeps you stuck, and what to do when the weight starts closing in.

At MARRA, we match you thoughtfully. We learn what you need and connect you with the right therapist from the start. No scrolling through profiles wondering who to pick.

Switching therapists isn’t awkward here. Not the right fit? You can switch. No guilt, no starting over from scratch. We’re here to find what works for you.

Our therapists are rigorously trained and stay that way. We hire experienced clinicians who meet high standards. They receive ongoing supervision and consultation, which means you’re getting current, evidence-based care. Most platforms don’t offer this. We do.

This isn’t transactional. Healing happens when you have space to be yourself completely. Our therapists build real relationships with clients, not because it sounds nice, but because that’s where actual change happens.

Our Space

This isn’t a clinic. It’s a space for reflection, connection, and real-life pause — because therapy should feel as comforting as your favorite corner of your home.

Located in the River West neighborhood of Chicago, our space was created to feel warm, grounded, and thoughtfully designed. We’ve intentionally moved away from anything clinical or sterile. Instead, you’ll find natural light, calming tones, and spaces that invite stillness — a place where you can truly relax, reset, and reconnect with yourself.

Our Chicago therapy space is designed to remind you that care can feel beautiful, intentional, and human. In addition to in-person sessions, we also offer virtual therapy for adults throughout Illinois.

We foster relationships built on trust

FAQS

We Are Here to Help

Sadness is often connected to a clear event and usually softens over time. Depression tends to persist, sometimes without an obvious trigger, and can include ongoing emptiness, low energy, loss of interest, or a lingering heaviness. A therapist can help you clarify what you're experiencing and determine the right kind of support.

Individual and couples sessions run for 55 minutes. This dedicated time allows you to make meaningful progress, reflect with intention, and leave with a clear sense of what to carry into your week.

We get it. You're already stretched thin. But here's the reality: The mental energy you're spending trying to manage this alone? That's taking more time than 55 minutes a week. Most clients find that therapy actually gives them time back because they're no longer losing hours to rumination, decision paralysis, or just trying to get through the day.

Everything you share in therapy is confidential, with limited legal exceptions. Some examples include situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others. Your therapist will review these boundaries clearly so you understand how your privacy is protected.

Yes. But here's what "effective" actually means: You won't wake up one day cured. You'll notice you can think more clearly. The heaviness lifts gradually. You start making decisions without second-guessing everything. You have energy again, not forced productivity, but real capacity. Therapy works because you're finally getting outside perspective on the patterns keeping you stuck, plus tools that actually address what's happening (not just generic advice).

You do not have to be in crisis to begin therapy. Many people start during transitions such as career changes, relationship shifts, grief, or periods that simply feel heavier than usual. Therapy offers space to gain insight, build on your strengths, and address what feels difficult.

Our full team is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. Select clinicians are also in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Aetna, depending on availability. Share your insurance details when booking and we will match you with an in-network provider when possible. If you prefer to work with an out-of-network therapist, self-pay is available and we provide a superbill for reimbursement. We complete a courtesy benefits check before your first visit, though final costs depend on your deductible, copay, coinsurance, and any visit limits. Payment is due at the time of service.

Yes. In-person sessions take place at our River West office in Chicago. We also offer secure, virtual therapy throughout Illinois. You can choose the option that fits your schedule or alternate between formats.

Sessions are guided by your goals. Some focus on exploring past patterns, others address present challenges, and some are more practical and forward-focused. The tone may feel conversational or structured, but every session is grounded in evidence-based care tailored to you.
