You do not need a diagnosis to start. We are a straight walk down Chicago Avenue, close enough to come on a lunch break, or online anywhere in Illinois.

What brings people in
Depression, anxiety and burnout are very good at looking like a full calendar
You can live in a building with four hundred people in it and go a whole week without a conversation that goes anywhere. There is a specific loneliness to being surrounded and still not known, and it rarely feels like it should count, because on paper you are doing well.
Work, gym, drinks, repeat. It looks like a life and for a while it is one. Then somewhere in there the thing you have been outrunning gets a little louder, and the pace stops working as a solution.
Sometimes it shows up as dread on a Sunday evening. Sometimes as wired at midnight and flat at ten in the morning. Sometimes as not caring much about anything, which is the one people apologize for.
Not sure
If you want a starting point that is not a phone call
The depression check-in and the anxiety check-in each take about two minutes and use the same screening tools clinicians use. You get a score and a few things worth reading next. No email needed.
What we do here
What we offer, in plain terms
Depression and anxiety
Individual therapy for adults. Weekly, or every other week if that is what your calendar can hold.
Burnout and work stress
For when the job stopped being demanding and started being the whole thing.
Grief and loss
For a death, and for the losses nobody around you treated as losses.
When something has changed
A breakup. A job change. Moving to a city where you still do not know many people. Or nothing you can name.
Where we are
A walk, not a commute
We are at 700 North Green, just west of the river, a straight walk down Chicago Avenue.
That matters more than it sounds. It is the difference between keeping the appointment and cancelling it at six o’clock on a Thursday because getting there suddenly feels like a lot.
Marra is deliberately small, which is not the norm downtown. You will not be handed to whoever happens to have a slot. A person reads what you send and thinks about it, and because every clinician here is licensed and in real supervision, we can say who is right for what rather than just listing everyone.
If the West Loop or Wicker Park is closer to you, start there instead.

How long is a session?
Fifty five minutes.

Do you see people who just moved to Chicago?
Often. It is one of the more common reasons people reach out, and it is worth bringing to therapy rather than waiting to get over it.
What if I have never done therapy before?
That is most people who reach out. The free consultation exists so you can find out what it is like before committing to anything.
